What is CountdownTrigger?

CountdownTrigger is an automated messaging service. You set a countdown timer and check in regularly. If you miss a check-in, your pre-written emails or texts are sent automatically to your chosen contacts.

How does checking in work?

You can check in from your dashboard, or from the link in a reminder email: it opens a page with a check-in button, and pressing it checks you in, no login needed. Each check-in resets your countdown timer. A countdown armed for one outing, like a date or a run, also has “I’m back — end it”, which stops it so nothing is sent.

What happens if I miss a check-in?

When your countdown reaches zero, your configured actions trigger automatically. This could be sending emails, SMS messages, or calling webhooks. Your contacts receive your pre-written messages.

Can I send documents?

Not as attachments: your message is delivered as an email or a text, in your own words. Say where the documents are and who to ask, or paste a link to a shared folder, and leave passwords out of the message itself.

Is my data secure?

Your messages are stored on encrypted disks and read only when it is time to deliver them. We never sell your data. If you came from one of our Google ads, Google is told that a countdown was armed, so we can tell which ad paid for itself, never your email or what you wrote. Email goes out through Resend and texts through Twilio, and the Privacy Policy names every company that handles your data.

Can I cancel or pause my countdown?

Absolutely. You can pause, edit, or cancel your countdown at any time from your dashboard. Paused countdowns won't trigger until you resume them.

What if your service goes down?

Your countdowns are kept by a cloud scheduler, not by your phone. If our alert sender can't be reached when a deadline passes, the scheduler keeps trying for up to 15 minutes. An alert that still fails, or a deadline that passes without firing, is emailed to us within a day.

Can I try it for free?

Yes, on the yearly plan. You get 7 days free when you arm your first countdown. We take your card at the start and charge $90 for the year when the 7 days end. Cancel before then and you pay nothing. The monthly plan is $15, billed from day one.
