Caregivers
If Dad misses his morning tap, you’ll know.
A daily check-in for a parent who lives alone. No wearable, no camera, no app to learn: a reminder each day and a button to press. If a day goes by without it, the family gets a message.
Dad misses his morning tapthe family knows.
Set it up together on his email, so the reminder reaches him. The family installs nothing.

Daily check-in by 11:00 AM
01 The silence
The morning call, and the morning you miss it
Most families run this on phone calls. You ring in the morning. If he doesn’t pick up, you ring again, then try a neighbor, then talk yourself out of driving over.
It works until the morning you’re on a flight, in a meeting, or simply forget. Nobody decided to stop checking. The call just didn’t happen, and a quiet day went by without anyone noticing.
A check-in changes who has to remember. He checks in once a day. If he doesn’t, the silence is the signal, and it reaches you without anyone having to watch for it.
You call Dad. He picks up on the second ring.
You call. No answer. He’s probably in the garden.
Second call, no answer. You leave a voicemail and walk into a meeting.
You’re on a flight. Nobody calls.
You land, call, and finally hear his voice. Two quiet days, and only luck in between.
02 The switch
How the daily check-in works
Press check in before the dial runs out, or let it run and see what your person gets.
Simulation: 12 seconds stand in for 1d 2h. Nothing is sent.
Set it up together
Create it on his email address, so the reminder goes to him. Give the window some slack: with 26 hours, a 9 am check-in can slip to 11 the next morning before anyone hears.
He presses once a day
A reminder arrives by email before the window closes. He opens the link and presses the button. The clock resets and nothing is sent.
A missed day reaches the family
If the window passes without a check-in, everyone you listed gets the message you wrote, by email or by text.
03 The message
What the family gets
The message you write during setup, word for word, inside an alert that says who set it up and what to do. Put in what someone would need on a quiet morning.
- Your words, unedited, under “Their message”
- Who set it up, and the check-in that was missed
- What to do next, and a link that explains the alert
It goes to whoever you list: you, your siblings, a neighbor with a key. That’s up to 20 people per channel, and nobody needs an app or an account to receive it.
Robert did not check in — “Daily wellness check”
Robert did not check in
Robert set up a countdown called “Daily wellness check” and did not check in by Wed, Oct 14, 11:00 AM PDT. This message was sent automatically on their behalf.
Their message
Dad hasn’t checked in today. He lives at 14 Alder Lane. Mrs. Ortiz next door has a key: 555-0142. Please call him first, then her. If neither of you can reach him, go over or call 911. His doctor is Dr. Patel at Westside Clinic.
What to do: try to reach Robert directly. If you cannot, and you believe they may be in danger, contact your local emergency services.
04 The fine print
What it is, and what it isn’t
Not a medical alert
It doesn’t detect falls and it can’t call an ambulance. It notices one thing, a day without a check-in, and tells the people you chose.
Not surveillance
No camera, no microphone, no location. He decides when to press, and on the days he does, the family hears nothing at all.
Not an app to learn
A reminder email and one button on a web page. Nothing to install on his phone or on yours.
05 Questions
Before you set it
Does he need a smartphone?
He needs something that opens a link: a smartphone, a tablet, or a computer with email. The daily reminder arrives by email.
What if he’s late one morning?
Give the window slack. With 26 hours, a 9 am check-in can slip two hours the next day before anyone hears, and you can widen it at any time.
What happens when he visits us?
Stop the countdown from the dashboard while he’s with you, and start it again when he’s home.
Who gets the message?
Whoever you list when you set it up: you, your siblings, a neighbor with a key. It sends to up to 20 people per channel.
